Winning 'Indian Idol' is like living a dream: Vipul Mehta

Success is counted sweetest- and who else could understand it better than Vipul Mehta.
Much before he became the new Indian Idol, his dream to win Amul Voice of India, a singing reality show he participated four years ago, ended up on a disappointing note. However this Amritsar boy is on cloud nine ever since he won the sixth season of Indian Idol.
"I couldn't believe at first.It was indeed surprising and winning this title is like living a dream,” said elated Vipul as he reminisced his Indian Idol journey. “Those were the days we really worked hard preparing the songs. We were neither allowed to use mobile phones nor TV. Though our mentors were friendly, they were strict as well,” said Vipul.
His actual preparations began four years back when he got eliminated from Voice of India. Accepting his defeat Vipul started working with a focused approach. All the hard work and efforts seem to be paying as many Bollywood biggies have praised him. Vipul performed with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the splendid opening episode of the sixth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati where Big B revealed a secret to him. “Amitabhji told me that his wife (Jaya Bachchan) watched my programme and she said my voice is amazing. Hearing this my happiness knew no bounds…Zindagi main sab mil gaya,” said Vipul before he gushed about his rendezvous with Lata Mangeshkar.
“She asked me to croon the song I sang in the audition. She told me that she watched Indian Idol and then I said to myself, 'yes I am a singer'. If Lataji is listening to me then there must be something in me,” said Vipul who now eyes playback singing in Bollywood.
“Singers often become relaxed after winning title but I am not. I am aiming to croon in a Bollywood movie within the next six months. Abhi Salimji (Salim Merchant) se baat bhi hui hai and he said something big is on the cards for me,” he signed out.
